Bloody Glow

In this tutorial we’ll teach you how to make text have a bloody color and effect. Basically every property blood usually has in terms of color and the way light hits its surface. On top of that we will go ahead and add a glow to it .

1. First we’ll begin by using a base image. Any one will do but this one will be even better since the background is somewhat grungy.

2. We can use any font for this tutorial but we’ll use something special. It’s up to you if you wish to download this. If you don’t want to use it, you can skip over this step. You can download the font at this link, it is called ‘Got Heroin’ but don’t worry, it’s just a name.

Once it downloads, unzip the file to C>windows>fonts and it will be installed. It will not be in your Photoshop font list.

3. Use the text tool and start writing anywhere in the middle, I used size 90. I wrote the words ‘Bloody Glow’. The hex code for the color that I used was #632816. It should now look similar to this.

I used this color not because it looks like blood, but because of what we are about to do, it will end up looking like blood.
4. Now here comes the first step to this quick process. In the layer style, change it from normal to color burn. Now you’ll notice it start to become a darkish color with a nice dark red color with the properties looking a bit translucent like blood! It should look like this.

Beautiful isn’t it? Well we aren’t done yet! But if you are satisfied with this technique, you can simply stop here and not continue further.
5. Now let’s add one of our final steps to this equation. Go to the font’s blending options and go straight to outer glow. The settings that we will need to apply are almost the same as how they are set. Except for two things, use the hex color code #a75e5e and set it to vivid light. It will look like the blood is seeping out a little bit, it’s smudged, or it’s glowing bloody. It’s beautiful isn’t it? Pain never looked sweeter.

And there you have it, a bloody glow for use on everything you need. But beware; depending upon the actual surface, you may have to adjust the colors or the layer styles a bit differently away from the standard in this tutorial. Don’t be afraid to experiment, you will get some amazing effects.
